John Coltrane Jazz Event
The brief was to choose a Jazz artist and make an event poster along with tickets to the event. I must say this project got me outside of my comfort zone. I tend to use existing images, then photo-manipulate them in my work, but my professor suggested I create something from scratch. So after first using an image of John Coltrane, I went back to the drawing board and decided to paint something. I used a Welch's fruit snack gummy to get the textured impression of a saxophone after I saw my roommate eating some. The other subtle textures were done with a fork and butterknife.
